Greeley Wells’ art is known locally through his shows, Christmas cards and his five Jacksonville Christmas Limited Edition Prints. Many know him as a community supporter as well. Most may not know he spent the main part of his artistic career in the Film industry in the dreaded Los Angeles area doing backgrounds and special effects for animated T.V. commercials, even sharing in a Clio award. He also won a National Endowment for the Arts grant, doing a six month school art residency in the L. A. school system. He retired from commercial art and happily moved to Oregon in the late 80’s. His most recent Artist Residency has been two weeks at Crater Lake making photographs and art in preparation for a show celebrating the Centenial of Crater Lake in 2002. This work was shown in a group show at the Schneider Musem of Art, Ashland, OR and in another show at the Rim of Crater Lake itself in 2002.
